I experienced these conditions last season. Wound up taking my 460 revolver and my dad's 300 Weatherby rifle close to the end of season. Ended up with yet another rifle kill, but still no handgun kill.

This season it will be: 460 with open sights on the hip, scoped Encore across the chest. The rifles absolutely will not come out this season, no matter what.

Depends if I have guns that have not taken game or not. They get first dibs.

I don't spend much time sitting when I hunt, but I would have my 45 Bisley on the belt as always and probably my 'Tender 7-30 Waters just in case.

Ruger m77 308.... 165 gr federal fusion. Fill the freezer first play later. I bow hunt and we currently have like 3 weeks gun and a week of muzzloader. If i get to last days of hunting season with no deer in the freezer im in jail or dead. My other would have to be my sbhh in 44 mag.

4 5/8th Blackhawk 250 gr XTP for sure carried crossdraw. Then one of the boltsingleshotrotarybreech scoped other thingies in some kind of bottle necked caliber.Maybe the 6.5 Rem mag as it has the least woods time and least blood on it.

We only get to take one deer all year, regardless of season so if I don't shoot my first with a handgun I won't be able to shoot any with a handgun. Must be nice to have the luxury of filling the freezer and still being able to hunt.

I have a few hunting handguns, but my go to seems to be my Magnaport Stalker.

I never shot a deer with a rifle and only a couple with shotgun.

It's very nice.

With the scenarioo given, I'd prolly have one of my T/C's in hand and my FA 97 45 colt on my side.

I was faced with this last year. I hunted hard with the 375 JDJ and had several shots, but it was around 75 degrees and I don't care to shoot then process. I like to let them hang for a day or two when it's cool.

I'm a meat hunter anymore. I usually pull out the 338-06 or a 7mm magnum rifle when the chips are down. This year I'll have a 41 magnum on my side at all times as well as my Encore JDJ pistol, but when meat is needed; give me my 338-06 and stand back!

If the deer win one year no big deal, I don't change handgun all the way.Same for bear, moose and goat. Also I've never hunted hard, just let it happen.

To cover any range I would use my Remington XP-100 .308 Winchester and S&W M629 .44 Magnum.

I have a old Redhawk with a new Ultradot 30 on it that I want to bloody this year. I have taken (5) does with it shooting irons. I also have a GP 100 with a 6" barrel that I used to take a doe last season with iron sights. I also have a new Blackhawk 357 mag with a ultradot 25 that needs to get bloody. It is at the gunsmith getting a trigger job right now. I also have a new CVA Optima V2 muzzle loading pistol that I want to deer hunt with during muzzle loading season this year.

In North Carolina we can take (6) deer a season but only two bucks so I shoot a couple of does a season sometimes more.

I have taken several mature bucks with bow, muzzle loader and rifle but only small bucks and does with my revolvers. At the top of my bucket list is to take a mature buck with a revolver. I plan to leave the rifle in the safe this year.

S4s4u come on over ... they are pretty liberal with permits here in ny. Alot of guys here eat more tag soup than venison. Its easy to get tags .. most farmers have crop damage tags . Not always easy to fill them tags.

Hey Rod, you need to come down to west Tennessee during our season. You get three does/day, everyday during season in Unit L counties. If you can afford the out of state license, that is.

Without doubt, it would be my Encore Pro Hunter with an MGM 460 S&W barrel. I trust that gun more than my preacher.

Ruger Super Redhawk, .480 w/4x, me eyes ain't as good as they used to be. If I take a rifle instead, either a 77RSI '06 or a #1, 9.3x74R. I know it maybe a little overkill with the 9.3, but I got it loaded down a little, just kind of a nostalgic cartridge to hunt with.

wow hate think I need to choose because I have so many and like them all. I also shoot them all very well. I have allot of nice rifles too but prefer the handgun. The most accurate handgun I own is XP100 from Gary Reeder in 240 Raptor. Limited to deer and varmints. My Encore is very accurate as well but I have all big bore barrels. Now for walking is my Glock 20 with a Lonewolf long slide with RMR sight mounted on it. My Encore has many barrels that are proven in the field and target range. I love the flexibility of the Encore when I need to scratch that new caliber itch and if a different approach is on the menu.

Well, the last day, and no shots,,, Rem 700 BDL 30/06 with special 165 grain hornady, jacketed, lead soft point handloads, and probably a high riding 4" .357 just cuzz.

This is pure fantasy tough, I haven't had this problem since 1984.
