I'm wanting opinions on a couple of different loads I've been considering for deer season this year. I have a pistol set up to shoot 45 Super. The two loads I've shot through it have been a 230 gr XTP and a 255 gr hardcast.
I've also ordered one of the new Sig P220 10mm pistols. I was really excited about it but the more I look at loads I'm not sure how big of a step up it is. Of these 4 loads what would be your choice?
1.) .45 - 230 gr XTP at 1112 fps
2.) .45 - 255 gr hardcast fn at 1045 fps
3.) .40 - 200 gr XTP at 1250 fps
4.) .40 - 200 gr hardcast fn at 1250 fps
Thanks everybody!

#3 and 4 for me. I'm going to use the same ones in my Sig

Well those first two look pretty impressive to me. But then I'm just a 45 kinda guy.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Any and all of them would be more than adequate for most tasks

Yeah, I keep thinking that the .45 hardcast doesn't get any smaller. I haven't taken a deer with it but I would think I should get good penetration on a whitetail. The 10mm just has that "cool factor" built in and I love the single action Sigs. I am probably six in one hand and a half dozen in the other between the two calibers.

On deer, I'd take #1. Anything above that, I'd go to #2.
The XTP line is the ONLY bullet I'll shoot other than hardcast.
