And a dream has come true.

Picked he up from my LGS this afternoon and she is oh........so fine. This one being of the .454 Casull flavor.

It is destined to be a handful, I'm sure. Light in the hand and well balanced, I love the way it feels. The grips are comfortable and thin, much easier to grip than a the Super Redhawk with Hogue grips. My only grip with Ruger being the fit/finish of the grips. The fit is poor. Having a large gap in the front of both sides and overhanging the corners at the bottom, they could have done a much better job of fitting them. But, other than that......the gun is awesome!

The trigger breaks at a VERY surprising 2.25 pounds. I already had a Wilson Custom Spring Kit waiting for the gun and it'll be interesting to see what difference it'll make. Along with the springs, I previously ordered a HiViz green fiber-optic front sight to replace the factory one. But, it has not arrived as of yet.

I plan to hit the range tomorrow morning with some 300gr WFN-GC loads I use in my other Casulls. Will finally realize the recoil potential of this beast and document with slo-mo video for all to see. Stay tuned............

RANGE REPORT

Two installments.

I hit the range early this morning but only had limited time before I had stuff to do. All I was able to accomplish at that time was acquiring a velocity from my 300gr WFN-GC loads.

That being: 1,517 fps

I was also able to get a video of the..........uhhhhhhhh............vigorous recoil.

http://vid26.photobucket.com/albums/c106...zps5o1eyfrm.mp4

And the stop action.

Sucker is F-U-N to shoot! But.........that sucker wears out my wrist!!! 3-Shots and it's time to rest the wrist.

It's hard to describe, but it's an aching pain. Not a sharp one. For instance, my .445 Super Mag with 325gr WFN-GC and a STOUT load of H110 hurts pretty bad to shoot. But, that one hurts with each shot and it hurts the palm of my hand. The Bisley doesn't hurt my palm, but after 3-5 shots, my wrist is sore!

I'm not death gripping the gun. But I am locked into it when I shoot.

Anyway, I had to get to work and went back to the range this afternoon to finish what I started. The load I was using was 31.0gr H110 under a 300gr WFN-GC a buddy of mine cast for me. It's not a hot load, but an accurate one in my other Casulls. So, I decided to just use this one and not work up a separate load.

Set up at 25 yards first to see where she printed.

That is just a wicked awesome sight right there!

The gun grouped well at 25 yards, but just a hair right. Then, I moved the target to 50 yards and made a bigger POA. This is where I really feel the factory front sights are lacking. The ramp front is just too washed out for me. The reflection causes it to be fuzzy and difficult to aim consistently. For this reason, I have the Hi-Viz Front Sight on the way. Regardless, I was able to print an acceptable 1.6" group at the 50 yard mark that I was happy with.

Made some adjustments to the sights and got my final confirmation zero at 50.

I fired 20 rounds total today. Not a large amount by seasoned shooters standards. But, my wrist is rather sore! And you know what?

It's AWESOME!!!!!! This gun is SWEET! Hold perfectly in the hand, the grips are great, trigger acceptable, lock-up tight............just plain wicked awesome.

I'll change the front sight and likely drop in the Wilson Custom Spring Kit.......and call it good.

On a side note, I ran an experiment today. That being to shoot the gun without any covering over my front rest. B-A-D idea.

This sucker EATS leather!!! So, I won't be doing that anymore.

On another side note, I tested the difference between placing the back of the barrel on the front rest and placing the front of the frame (in front of the trigger guard) on the front rest. Expected result?

Barrel rested shots go all over the place. Shocker!

Have I mentioned that I love this gun?

Awesome!
Thanks for proving that even on a short barreled revolver that when you rest the barrel on something it will change POI.
Great shooting.
I am glad you are enjoying the sore wrists.
Stay away from carpal tunnel issues though.....

That's Awesome! Just the review I've been waiting for. I have one just like it on layaway at my LGS until I can close on my new house. I think I'm going to start out with loads a bit lighter than those you listed Zee, and build up. I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions for you guys once I get to pick it up. Until then I am reading everything I can on here.

Gotta watch the cylinder gap with guns like those. Found that out the hard way when shooting my 460 with front rest made of nylon.

ZEE,,,,,,,,,,I look forward to your evaluations and pictures. Very nice! What is the barrel cylinder gap measurement? I use a similar load of 300LFNGC with 28gr/H110 or W296 and a CCI 450 primer. Shoots really great from my FA83.

Thank. All.

I haven't measured the gap. In truth......I've NEVER measured a gap. That's above my pay grade.

I guess I could try to figure out how, but I don't know that my findings would be........reliable.

Yeah, I'm considering getting a set of gloves. Something to try and stay off this pain.

Wrist still hurts this morning! Ha!! Sucker is no joke! In full disclosure, it's a wrist I've already had surgery on in the past. So, I think that is likely the underlying issue. Not that the gun itselt is the monster. But, that the wrist had already been compromised and rebuilt in the past.

Fantastic pictures Zee! Please post some pictures with the Hi Viz front sight. How difficult it is to change out the front sight on the Bisley?

Finally got the HiViz front sight installed. It weren't easy. Had to file down both sides of the HiViz Sight to get it to fit in the slot. After that, I used a Vertical Milling Machine to drill the hole through the HiViz. Then, it was simply tapping the pin through.
The results are dramatic! Both in appearance (I think it looks much better overall) and visual reference. The front sight is much easier to see due to the fiber optic. And the top of the sight is much more defined in the thin black like of the new sight as opposed to the wash out I was getting with the factory ramp.

In my mind, it's like a new gun.

Looks good and it'll look ever better when aimed at a critter.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

I finally got around to installing the Wilson Custom Tune Spring Kit.

I CONTINUE to be impressed with this inexpensive modification. About 15 minutes to install and it took my factory single action trigger pull from 2 lbs 8 oz down to a modest 1 lb 4 oz!!

That'll work!

I think I'm officially done with this revolver. She is ready to hunt.

That is a beautiful six gun! I have the same front sight on my GP 100. I LOVE IT! Hunted with it last year and dropped a mature doe with it.

vary nice gun. sounds like a bit of trouble putting the sight on. when i did mine it was tight but not that bad. a couple of light wacks with a hammer handle was it.

The dog ate my homework! There was a serious wreck! Traffic backed up for miles! An earthquake destroyed the village! Then a tsunami wiped out the island. The mosquitoes are HUGE after the latest rain. Like apocalyptic numbers of gigantic mosquitoes!! Huge even!!! Like..........big!

Ok. The mosquito part is true. And it ain't deer season. And the pigs are nocturnal.

So.........I got nothing.

Sorry. I'll try soon.

I am no longer jealous. I picked up one of these in 454 Casull... 😬

Gonna look at maybe getting a Delta Point type sight on it.

Fit and Finnish seems very good on mine. Barrel/cylinder gap tight also.
