I mean I know I really want one! I already own and shoot a FA 454 with a 6" barrel. I cast a 325gr FNGC, a 340gr LBT WFNPB, and a 350gr WFNGC from an NOE mold. So what will I really gain with the 480? Just trying to justify the purchase as my FFL tries to find me one.

Why do I need a Bisley in 480 Ruger? You don't. But, since when has "need" been in the equation?!?!?
Rod, too.

He's not going to find one yet, as they aren't shipping just yet. Just need to find Lipseys dealer with some on order.
I doubt any of us "need" one but a lot of us will have them anyway. I have 6" FAs in 475 as well but it's not stopping me

Comparing the 475L to the 480; what are the advantages / disadvantages between the two?

I don't really see any difference in them in real world terms personally. If you really want to make the 480 snort, it can be done to the same extent basically as the 475 but I don't run them that hard. So a 475 bullet at 1100 is the same from either one for me

I'm on the list to get one once they start shipping, I have been trying to simplify my life, I have gotten down to shooting pretty much two handguns for hunting, a Bisley in 44 Magnum, and my FA 454, the 454 sees a 3 to 1 ratio over the 44, I just enjoy shooting it more with heavy bullets at moderate and a bit more velocity. Same on the rifle side, been shooting my 375 Ruger 3 times as much as the next nearest 3 rifles. I run through 200 to 500 rounds in the handguns and about a 100 rifle rounds, 99% are cast. I do like the thought of a 390-420 grain bullet at 1100-1200 fps, I run the big 350s from the 454 at 1200-1400 fps, and a 350 from the 375 at around 1800. The big bullets sure don't like to stop.

Unless you fill that little bit of extra space afforded by the 475 case under a heavy for caliber bullet there is no difference...

You may want to look at this link if you cast. I think I have a total of 20 sold after I add everyone in the morning. I have 5 more slots available. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthre...-475-Linebaugh)

Dang Glenn, I don't have the set up or space to cast, but if I did that's exactly what I am looking for. I think those would be great in my 475 and 480s.
I know I definitely don't need another gun, but I have wanted Ruger to build a 480 Ruger since they first came out with the 480 Ruger. I will have one, already paid my deposit to my local Lipseys dealer. It will be 2 weeks tomorrow.

Glenn that is a good looking bullet! Will likely start with the Lee until I absorb the cost of the revolver and reloading set up.
