I'm partial to the Super Blackhawks myself. Nothing wrong with 22 mags, but there's just something about the blackhawks.

There is always the Ruger Single-Six 22 LR / 22 Mag Hunter. Hopefully the picture will come across. Doc

I agree with Doc that the Single-six hunter is a great choice for anyone to own. If you do not own a hunting class 22LR I would buy one. If you are well stocked with iron sighted and scoped 22s then get the Super Blackhawk Hunter. It is a great gun also. If I could only own 2 guns for hunting, (a terrible thought!) It would probably be these 2.

Getting back to your original question. I am not a fan of 22 magnum handguns. As a hand loader I would choose a small caliber centerfire or a convertible 22LR/Mag. before I bought a dedicated 22 mag revolver.

I bought a Super Blackhawk Hunter 4 months ago. I wanted that gun for years and never would pony up. It's now my favorite firearm and I wish I hadn't wasted all those years without it.

Buy 1 and get Santa to bring the other (provided you've been a good boy this year of course)

So i decided to get a single six so i could have both .22 lr and .22 mag. Nothing fancy but i am planing on getting new sights and grips from ruger so it should be pretty slick when its all set up . I am planning on getting the super blackhawk hunter in .44 mag a little later hopefully a early christmas gift!

With the .22 mag being a larger diameter than the .22lr, the barrel is the larger bore. Course I've never had a quality revolver in that caliber either. Good luck with yours though! BTW, I lived three years in MN. Long enough for me. My brother has been there 35 years.

A fine choice. Put the same grips on it as the .44 and you will have a practice gun with the same feel as your hunting setup.
