I`am posting this topic because a good field knife is as important as the ammo in your handgun. Adding to that, we have Kim (Kral) our in-house custom knife maker so I will continue. Ever since I saw my first Randell with sawteeth and hollow handle and read how they came about I had to have one. I recently finished collecting all the standard version`s of Randell`s #14 and 15. The knives pictured are more of the survival type rather then a drop point, caper or skinner, however, they can be used in any situation..... Any more custom`s????

Only custom I've ever had is from KRal. This is my one and only. Its my dedicated falconry knife. I don't know how I ever got by without it before.

While I have more than a few knives none are custom. I love good knives and the one in the pic is one I could see me owning. That said I'm a Case knife guy its a family thing . We all got one when we started hunting . Six inch straight belt knife for big game, smaller version for birds and fish, nice little folder for the pocket. As I have inherited knives from family that have past I am holding knives for future generations. .. they really do last lifetimes. I do have a hard time putting down custom knives when I see them.

Knives...the other obsession...

My latest acquisitions from Ralston Knives

One of my Ralston Slim Hunters

The Ralston "Glenwood" at work on swine, a 10" overall custom-designed canvas micarta

Some Bill Snow creations - Tipi Knife work examples

Stabilized Dyed Box Elder Burl semi-skinner and canvas micarta fighting knife

A Brazilian Rosewood beauty, accentuating the sap line

And a knife gifted to a good friend, a semi-skinner with handle from shittum wood, a wood referenced in the Bible.

First three are by David Winston of Starksville, MS.

This one is by Jason Winston of Starksville, MS.

This one is by Doug Brunson of Olive Branch, MS.

This one is by Kevin Lesswing of ?, New Jersey.

This one is by Walter Powers of Lolita, TX.

The bottom photo is the first knife to leave Kim`s shop.... Made of D2 steel, she cut bear hide like paper... The top knife was made by Gene Ingram and given to me upon my retirement by Glenn and Dur with Mike Barantti making the sheath. Carried the knife on my South African hunt. Brings me to tears every time I look at it....

I have several but not very many good pics. Probably should rectify that. These are knives by ML Knives, including an 8" early style bowie, custom 5" drop point made to my specs and a set of utensils. Currently working on a beaded knife sheath for the drop point.

Here is one by semi-local maker Russell White, a gorgeous 10" bowie. I have commissioned another from Russell, who just passed his journeyman bladesmith test. It will be a damascus, deep bellied 5" bowie with ivory cut from the same tusk as the grips on the custom .500JRH Ruger currently in the works.

This one is similar to what he's going to build for me. Hopefully in the near future.

KRal no need to post , my knives are tools with sentimental value... what you guys are posting are works of art. Sad to say if I ever owned one it would sit in my safe only coming out to show visitors. You know the funny thing is while hunting over the years i bet i have found a dozen knives next to gut piles. Has been a long time habit to investigate gut piles. I have found A few bucks and shrades and such. Decent knives for what they are. I end up giving them away ... just not the knife i have grown to count on for the last 35 years or so.

You fellas have some fantastic knives. They are also another passion of mine, but I don't have an extensive collection of customs. I have some rare Microtech autos, a modest collection of Case Cheetas, some Italian pieces.

The only pic I have handy is this one. It is a few customs from local knife maker Marvin Poole. I really like his knives for their intended purpose. They have all done their fair share of work and really keep an edge.

I would really like to add some of KRal's work to my stash...

Kim, I was intrigued by the concept of the chute knife design. As I know the story a CIA agent named Harry Archer was on duty in Vietnam and gave his thoughts to Loveless knives. The sharpened top edge was to allow a man to cut the shroud lines of his parachute. The knives are made by (l to r) 1 and 2) Sponaugle 3)Voorhis 4) Larsen 5) Bill Johnson 6) Ankrom 7) Crotts
