What sort affect does grip angle have on recoil?

For example, anyone tried a handgun with about the angle of a typical rifle pistol grip? As in bolt action not AR.

If you mean like a typical rifle stock cut off right behind the grip, to shoot as a pistol, that kind of angle can be rather unpleasant to shoot with anything that kicks hard. I had a single shot 12 gauge done like that once upon a time.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I agree with S4. You should probably reshape to a more vertical grip so you can get behind the gun. You could epoxy and pin a piece on the bottom and reshape to a pistol grip. Good luck.

Cheers lads. I did think it may magnify recoil a tad but having only fired Glocks and Browning Hi-Powers my experience of pistols, especially the hard kicking kind, is very limited.

Would a more horizontal grip point more naturally?

Also, i will probably make my own stock, I was just curious if I could get away with the 'sawn off' look. Seems it wouldn't be the best idea.

I want a more vertical grip myself with a bolt rig.
Doesn't have to be completely vertical though.

I don't know that it magnifies recoil per se, but your ability to control recoil is compromised due to the lack of leverage. The middle finger does not make for a good "recoil lug" ;-)

Ha! I see your point! I think I'll just steal the 11 degree of the 1911 or 17 of the Glock.
Whatever the final build it'll be a decent cartridge like so fingers for recoil lugs may not be the best shout
