Has anyone seen the new Ruger Super Blackhawk in 454? I want one but my area gun stores haven't got any in yet? Gunblast.com did a review and he seemed to really like it. I will be going Elk hunting next year and this time I'd like to use a revolver instead of my Contender.

Andy, here is a link to a thread on the shooters bench forum on this site. Click on the link in the first post and there is a review there:

I have had my .454 SBH since February and I like it a lot. Very accurate.

Here is a picture of my .454. I also have the .480 which I also like very much.

No worries, Sir. Yours inspired me enough to buy the gun in the first place!

Got to handle one of the test guns the first week in June in New Mexico but before I could shoot it my buddies mentioned food! So we went to town & ate & I never got to shoot it. I'm really, really glad Ruger came out with these, its been a long wait for a factory 5 shot Bisley & now we have both the 454 & the 480, couldn't get much better than that.
Zee, nice shooting with one of the most challenging calibers out there, you done good!

That is a good review and good shooting. I have only shot 45 Colt through mine until my 454 brass arrives, and it is accurate. I installed a Bowen rear sight on mine and that is a big improvement.

Mr. Z, have you installed the new front sight yet?

Not yet. Gotta get to a friends that has a vertical milling machine to drill through the sight.

I could probably just use a drill and a vice. But, I figure.......why not just do it right.

I picked up one of Sixshot's fiber optic sight blades and installed it in my Talo 3.75" SBH. It was pretty easy using a cordless drill. I had to thin the tang a bit so it fit in the sight base slot - other than that it was easy peazy.
