How critical is it to use the same brand of brass in your reloading? I have several assorted pieces but not enough for a full box and would like to integrate them for full boxes.

For practice it's fine to mix and match. When it comes down to load development and the shot that counts, it's best to keep them all the same. Make sure all of your brass is trimmed to the same length also or you'll get funky crimps.

I think as long as you're not using maximum or near maximum loads, you'll be fine.

I'm using Nosler 240gr with 21gr 2400 and Nosler 300 with 16gr 2400. I don't know that I need to but I trim my brass to the same length each time after shooting them.

Like rlb said, though, keep your cases trimmed to about the same length.

It is always best for accuracy to use the same brand and lot of brass. The length of the case and the brass wall thickness have a great affect on the crimp. As the others have said, OK for plinking/practice but not for hunting. Definitely trim all cases to the same length.

There is seldom a need to trim once you have uniformed all cases, although it doesn't hurt. Blasting ammo never sees the trimmer on my bench. But, when it comes to hunting loads near the upper end I don't like surprises.

I'll always check them...I am a uniformist..never know what kind of critter you'll be busting that cap on. Rick.
