I just got my new SRH in 454 Casull today and want to get the best scope for my hunting needs looking at the fixed 4x26 and th 1.5-4x20 most hunting done in hardwoods and small fields 150yrd shot max give me some advice out there.

Ok went surfing to a few other sources and just ordered the burris 1.5-4x20 with posi lok think this will give best of both worlds what you guys think. can wait to fire that SRH 454.

I have a 1.5X4 and am pleased with the quality of the glass. Can't go wrong with the Burris. It should hold up to the recoil without any problems.

Preferrably 2x or 4x fixed.

I have a SRH in 480 and I put a 4X leupold on it. It took a little practice to get fast target acquisition. I have taken 3 deer with the 480 so far. I like the 4X when I'm out hunting charlies or doing load developmant at the range. A 2X scope would be a little quicker and easier to get on target.

Burris scopes are excellent and would hold up well to the 454. I guess the 1.5 to 4 would be a good scope to start with. You could practice with it on 1 or 2 power and as your skills increase you can turn the power up. 4X works good for the shots out at 100 yards.

4x+ you will need some kind of rest. branch, leg, bipod ect..
2x will work if you plan on free hand out front of you.
a varilbe will cover all worlds.
