Just picked up a used SSK Contender barrel in 358 JDJ with dies and 50 pieces of brass. Time is short for load development, was hoping ya'll might have a pet load or two to point me in the right direction. I currently only have Hornady 200 grain RN's in stock, but can get what works for everybody else.

Thanks!

I have been hunting with an SSK Contender 358JDJ for 35 years. By far it is my go to gun. My favorite loads are
46.5 grains of H-4895 with a 250 grain Hornady Interlock spire point
48 grains of H-4895 with a 220 grain Speer flat point.
I am a big fan of heavy bullets deep penetration. I think you would be fine with 48 grains of H-4895 to start with your 200 grain bullets. Check out my other posts.
Enjoy!

I shot a 356 Winchester for a long time.
Easy stuff with factory Winchester brass.
The 180 Speer hot core and the 180 Hornady SSPB were my go to bullets. H4895 was my powder roughly 47 gr with the 180.

I also shot some of the Nosler BT with less success.

I think I have some 200gr Rem bullets if you want to try those.

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Ran the first round of load work up and this looks promising. Should work for deer and pigs. Don't know the velocity, but I'm guessing 2100 - 2200 fps. Hope the picture shows up, never done it before. Testing done at 50 yds both for accuracy and expansion. Shot into 3 one gallon jugs filled with water and caught in a box of rags. Remaining weight 190 grains, and expanded to .730 inch.

Good shooting! Looks like that load will work.
