Decent excuse for everyone to show off their wares
\:\)

What I'm looking for in particular is bolt actions (rear or mid grip) with 12-14" barrels. All handguns with barrels that long welcome though
\:\)

If you do post a phot could you please say what the overall length is/barrel length is, both excluding brake.

Thanks in advance lads, Jim

There will not be many bolt rigs with 12-14" barrels I am guessing

Not to short, but most bolt SP's will run 15", 15.5", 15.75", and longer.

Here is a factory stock XP with a 14" tube:

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Both of my XP as well as my Striker are in that range

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Cheers lads. Some beautiful handguns you've got there.

They do like a mite unwieldy though. Having never held a bolt action pistol (rear or mid grip) I can't really judge properly mind.
How do they handle? Anyone got a rear grip one I can compare?

A 14-16 inch center-grip is NOT unwieldy to me at all.
I hunted in all kinds of terrain and elevation for big game (Whitetail, Mule Deer, Antelope, and Elk) for about 18 years with a 14" and a 15.75" center-grip XP's. Chamberings: 7mm-08, 284 Winchester, and 7.82 Patriot.
284 Win (15.75" barrel)

7.82 Patriot (15.75" barrel)

I don't doubt you Ernie. Definitely more manageable than a rifle or carbine.

I'm currently trying to ascertain whether hunting with a handgun is legal here. I should know by the end of the week. The problem I'm having is that nobody has asked before so if its legal (which I think it is from my interpretation of the law) then they MUST grant me it, this establishes precedent and will mean I can have one for UK deer at over 1700 ft-lbs energy and one for our wild boar which means I can go even bigger or one big one for both.

I think I may be leaning towards a single shot in 30-06 or 8x57JRS for deer and a mid grip bolt gun in something bigger for boar and Africa.
Or a single shot in 9.3x74r!

Jim, I wish you the best of luck dealing with your UK hunt laws. Worse comes to worse have the Royal Navy drop you off at New York harbor and I`ll pick you up for some boar huntin.....
PS have 7-08 and 6.5JDJ single shots you can use.

Cheers James. I'll have a word with my CO and see what he can do
;\)

I'm hoping I'll know tomorrow if they are legal hunting arms.
