My local store just got in a large shipment of Alliant powders, as well as several boxes of .452" 250 grain XTPs. Has anyone used Unique in the 460 to create a plinking load?

TN..The best source of reduced loads in 460SW l have seen is Speer #14 manual..They have reduced loads for 250 and 300 gr bullets listed.. None for Unique, but they list loads for Power Pistol..A powder some say duplicates Unique. l use PP now.. l have not seen any Unique in 3 years

I use Unique in just about everything...from my little antique IverJohnson 32S&W all the way through the 45-70 and the 500S&W...probly one of my favorite powders.

An accidental double charge will really fill most cases so you can keep Unique much safer than the other fast burners like Titegroup. But the 460 is Big so keep an eye on things.

Since you are looking for a plinker here,,,I would start around 10 grains of Unique and see what my Chronograph tells me. If you don't have a Chronograph...You really need one to work loads from scratch because it will tell you things that can save your bacon.

It is bigger than a 454Casull so the 454 data will be a great start...

Mister, why do you carry a 45? "Because Sam Colt don't make a 46."

Freedom, how consistent are the velocities produced by Unique? I've tried a handful of other powders for this purpose, but would get velocity variations all over the place. Accuracy suffered as a result of that.

Speer data, 19-21 gr. of power pistol, and very mild, I have used it out to 200 yards in both 460"s, i use the 240 XTP, nice plinking load.
