Any day at the range is a good day. But, every once in awhile, we have one of those days that just makes us smile. If you haven't.........you don't shoot enough.

The .454 Bisley is.........brutal to say the least. I don't mind it............but it's unfriendly at best. So today, I decided to try my .45 Colt loads through it. Just to see how they did. So, I fired a couple rounds at a paster set at 25 yards. Oh, the recoil was SO much nicer! Pleasant even! With a velocity of 1,365 fps, the 250gr XTP hit the bottom of the 1" paster twice. That was a good sign! Considering it was sighted in for my 300gr Casull loads, I was happy with the impacts.

I then set my steel MGM target at 50 yards and gave it a go.

Hey! That'll work! So, I moved it back to 75 yards.

Eh, a little high. But, that'd be a dead deer!

I was a happy camper and started to pack up. Then, I stopped. Looked down range at 100 yards. What the Hell...................and I moved the target back.

Dude, I fired the shot. It felt good. I reached over and turned the video off. Then, looked back at the target. I could see the white spot in the center portion. Seriously, I just smiled and chuckled. I literally surprised myself. It was one of those moments where you fire a shot.........look at the impact..........smile......throw your hand up in the air and say, "I'm done!"

That is the first shot I've ever fired at 100 yards with a .45 Colt revolver. Heck, it's the first shot I've ever fired at 50 or 75 yards with that cartridge out of a handgun. We don't always have them. But, sometimes we do.

It was a GOOD day!

Nicely done! Those lousy factory grips are the root of all evil. I have a permanent knot on the middle knuckle of my shooting hand from all the testing I did on the new .454 and .480 SBHs.

Keep doing what you're doing!

Some days all the stars and planets line up and we have an exceptional day, good shooting. I put a set of Eagle brand grips on my Bisley.45 for the reason Whit mentioned, it beat hell out of my knuckle. They have a filler behind the trigger guard that stops the bite. Some fitting was required but it was minor.Maybe now with the new 5 shot .454 and 480's Pachmayor will start makeing grips for the Bisley. Again GOOD SHOOTING!

Thanks, guys.

The trigger guard doesn't get me. It's just the impact to the base of my hand that wears on my wrist over time, when shooting that gun with Casull loads.

My .45's both Bisley and Blackhawk bite my middle knuckle ,so the aftermarket grips. Nice that they don't hit you. Have you tried a padded shooting glove? I have an anti vibration glove with padding in the palm that helps but it changes your grip some.

Love the videos-Just watched them.
Were you sitting on the ground or on a chair when using the Bog-Gear?

Excellent shooting/videos. I have been considering getting a Bog-Gear tripod.

Which is recommended for those who have used them? I see that there is a CLD that is adjustable from 6"-40" and another from 22"-60". I'm not sure how much prone shooting I'll ever do, so I'm leanign toward the taller one. Thanks.
