Picked up some Winchester 240 grain JSP's from wal mart. had to shoot my new gun... This is the first time shooting anything bigger then a 357 mag or 45 acp. 25 yards sitting on my tail gate using one of those telescopic single pole shooting sticks. Not the best group ever and it honestly looks pretty crappy compared you ya'lls shooting lol. The 44 mag wasn't as bad recoiling as I had expected but it defiantly isn't a gun I would go shoot 100 rounds out of!!! I shot 38 of them and that was enough for that trip to the range! I have a red dot that I might try on it and maybe get a scope. I just feel like I would do better with optics of some sort. What's a good scope mount for a Super Blackhawk? http://www.handgunhunt.com/photopost/data/500/thumbs/IMG_6238.jpg

That's not so bad for first time out. The verticle stringing indicates your grip tension is a little inconsistant. Firm up the grip a bit and keep at it. Handloading will allow you to back off on the horsepower a smidge and make it easier to shoot. Good start!
I D&T'd a Jack Weigand base to mine. Weaver offers a clamp on base, but I like the security of screws.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I just looked at both of those and I'm really liking not D&Ting the gun, even though D&Ting are easy and I'm sure it would be a little better I would rather not put holes in it.
I have a tasco red dot that I picked up at a garage sale for practically nothing, looks to be in good shape. Will it last on a 44 mag or is it going to beat the crap out of it?

I have a couple of older Tasco dots and the older ones are tough. Not sure about the newer ones or when your's was made but there is only one way to find out ;-)
Rod, too.

Well the lady at the garage sale was selling 4 paintball guns (1 was brand new in box) masks, air tanks, the red dot and a bunch of other stuff for $10, she said her grandsons (grown now) left it all in her basement and wouldn't help grandma clean up so now she is sell it all. Their loss, my boys will use it.
I immediately asked if they had left any cars, tools, hunting equipment. she laughed

Sam86, There is a no drill & Tap scope mount for the BH and SBH. It is the Weaver 301 base. I have one and can affirm that it holds the scope secure. They sell them at Amazon for about $46 shipped. I also see it at Cheaper Than Dirt for $34.97 + S&H.

I have a couple of the Weaver no drill mounts. One is on my 4 5/8th .45 and the other is on a 10 1/2 in Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 mag . Neither has moved or had to be re sighted .Not the prettiest or sleekest mount out there but they work very well.
