I have a bear tag for tomorrow. I have a bear for tomorrow. I just need to put the tag on the bear tomorrow! This bear is a small bear, maybe 2 to 3 years old at the most, but he has been terrorizing my neighbor's ranch, scaring her half to death, breaking limbs in apple trees, and busting up fences. Shows up every afternoon between 1 and 3. Our neighbor is not a hunter, but doesn't mind hunting as long as the hunters aren't trespassing on her place, and causing damage to her fences (Same feelings I have about our place in South Colorado, so I understand completely).
She has had this bear hit the orchard every day for the last 8 days, and has tried shooting her .38 revolver in the dirt to scare it off. It works, but he comes back a couple hours later. She has finally had enough, and wants it taken care of. I called the D.O.W. office, found out there are leftover tags for her unit, and picked one up this afternoon!
Hopefully, I can properly introduce Fezzik to hunting tomorrow afternoon! I'd take the Brute Squad, but since it is such a small bear, I'm afraid it would tear it up pretty bad.
I won't be sleeping tonight!

Fezzik is my custom Ruger Super Blackhawk that was built by Jack Huntington. 45 Colt. 5.5" deep crowned octagon barrel. Jeweled hammer. 5 shot unfluted cylinder. Belt Mountain base pin. Extended grip frame with ironwood grips. FA brass bead front post sight. Bowen target rear sight. Fezzik's favorite lunch is a 335gr hardcast from Cast Performance over 23.3gr H110. He'll eat those all day, and does it well!

Paul, are you just taking Fezzik, or are you going to take the 460 as well?

Paul, are you just taking Fezzik, or are you going to take the 460 as well? Just Fezzik. Max shot distance will be way under 50 yards. It is a private land only tag, so the 460 would be a bit much. Well, it would work of course, but it is scoped and set up for a minimum of 100 yards. My self imposed distances are based off of 100 yards. Under that, and I use my revolvers. Over that, and it's the 460. The shot I'm expecting tomorrow could be 20 yards or less, and certainly no more than about 35.

Got her!! This is my third bear, but first with a revolver. She's a little one, but the landowner is happy, and completely amazed that "a handgun can do that". She is only about 175 pounds or so, if that. But I don't care one bit. She is my first bear with a revolver, and won't be causing any more problems in the apple orchard. Shot was spot on 30 yards, right behind the shoulder, and she only ran about 40 yards. Heart and lungs were absolutely mush. Fezzik did his job very well. Couldn't be happier with this revolver. The landowner was pretty amazed, and very happy. We've made another believer!!

Thanks guys. I'm so dang excited about this. Won't be sleeping tonight either!
Royals won today which forces a game 5, and I got to use a revolver to put a tag on a bear. I couldn't be happier today!!!

Thanks guys. I'm still a "young" handgun hunter. This is only my third big game animal with a handgun. This one was just as exciting as my first one!
Can't wait for our deer / elk trip later this week. Hope it turns out this well also.

We leave tomorrow late morning / early afternoon. Going for a week to 10 days. My wife has a bull and cow tag. I have a buck and cow tag. Hopefully we get something! Any one of those animals would top off our freezer for the year. We are already SO GRATEFUL for what we have already, but one more animal would make things a lot easier for the coming year. We were given two small bears (One is smaller than the one I took yesterday. Other one is same size.) by the Division Of Wildlife officer that normally does my falconry stuff. The three bears combined make up a little more than half an elk cause they are all so small. But like I said, we are VERY grateful for them.
If we get two animals, we will donate a large portion of it to one of my buddies that is having a rough year.
