Rod, too.

Thanks Everyone,
I was talking to James the other day(very nice guy). It was one of those days where things just went right. I came roaring into camp a bit late due to traffic. Didn't have time to even put on camo. I grabbed my new Encore 7mm-08 and raced to the stand. I got there about 4:45Pm and settled in. Grabbed my book and read about 2 pages. I looked up and there were about 5 of them. I had sighted the pistol in and was shooting an honest 1/2" or so group with inexpensive Hornady American Whitetail off the bench at an indoor range. It has a 4-12 Burris scope on it. The muzzlebreak is where the accuracy comes from. It is a pussycat....a loud one!

Well, I had ranged the area before and knew it was 135 yds to the hogs. I simply rested the forearm and lined up on the largest one in the pack. I was going for head/neck area as the gun was accurate enough and I have had fantastic results with minimal tracking. Well, the shot broke. The other 4 hogs evaporated as usual. My hog hobbled a few yards towards the brush. I waited a bit them eased down there. My hog had not made the brush and was just obscured by a myrtle bush. It was stone dead.

I was back in camp within a half hour. Some people in camp simply thought I forgot something as I wasn't gone very long. They were amazed that I had done so well, so soon. The hog was shot at 135 yds and weighed 135 lbs. Some days are just like that! I love when that happens. Thanks again James, and everyone. By the way......this was my first handgun kill.

Nice pig!
Our family land has never had much to any wild hog, but this year seems to be different. We are seeing a great deal of sign and hope to get them taken care of before they take over. Here in SW Alabama, 5 hogs can turn into 50 in short order! I placed my game cameras today and will have pics soon ... The SBH may have pork for his first meal!!

They are prolific breeders. Especially if you have water on your land.
