I've exhausted my supply of Hornady 225's and have bought some Sierra 250's to try for hunting season. I've asked Sierra for loading data, but they have not worked with this cartridge yet.

Has anyone worked with this bullet in the JDJ? There is no loading data, so I'm just mainly looking for a starting point. If nothing else, I planned to use 270 grain loading data while shooting over the chronograph for some verification.

From the June 94 issue of "The Sixgunner", 250 grain Sierra SPBT, 53.5 grains AA2520. No mention of the primer brand or type. Feb 96 issue of "The Sixguner", 250 grain Sierra Game King, 52.0 grains AA2520. No mention of the primer brand or type.
The 52.0 grain load is listed numerous times in later issues. I didn't note the page or the name of the member that submitted the article.

I've used the Sierra for many years. A little soft, but works great and is accurate. I also use 52.0 gr. AA2520 with a CCI Lg Rifle primer loaded to a length of 3.10" in my Contender. I know of game up to kudu killed with this bullet.
The 53.5 gr. load is a little warm. No sense stressing your gun. 52 will do everything you need.

Thank you gentlemen. I'll see if I can find some AA 2520, but around these parts, it's doubtful. I'm working on a load now with 4895, I'll see how it goes in the meantime.

Thanks again.
