Got my XP100R 260 and the Encore 6.5 Rem Mag snug in a case, ammo loaded, clothes, "KNEE PADS & LEATHER GLOVES" per Steve & Ernie. Tags in wallet and a few road maps. Will hit Denver tonight and up before the sun and will roll into Laramie early, make the trek over the Snowy Mountains to Saratoga. Got my spotting scope handy and ready for action.
Thanks guys for the information I have collected from all of you this year on hunting goats. I'm hunting unit 52 and my buddy that lives in Laramie has already helped his Dad and three others to take nice goats up near the timber on a ranch we are hunting.
Details and photos to follow as soon as I can. We are even taking two nice video cameras for some footage, maybe a stalk or two.
Oh, I did load the 223 contender and 200rnds of ammo just in case we find a dog town or some other varmints that are on our tag.

Mike

Good luck Mike. I envy you. I haven't had the opportunity to get out hunting Pronghorns for several years, and never with a Handgun. Maybe next year for me, but for now I sincerely hope you have a great hunt.

Sounds like a blast. I have never hunted anything outside of the state of Alabama. Maybe one of these days I will come of the hip and hunt out west somewhere. Anyways, good luck!

Made it back this morning after a 16 hour drive from Saratoga, WY. Took a 13.5" goat with my XP100-260 at 225 yds. Thanks Ernie and Steve for calculations on my BPlex scope. It was dead on. The processor said it was a pretty old goat by looking at his horns and scars on his forehead. It was 41 degrees when I shot him. We were hunting along the Cont. Divide below Bridger Peak on walk-in and BLM land. Had a great time. The other two guys with me took nice goats with rifles. One photo of my goat and the other is of the area I hunted.

Job well done!
I'm glad the BP reticle worked for you. It sure has made hunting easier for us the past couple of years.
The boys at Burris definitely are in the lead when it comes to practical shooting in the field with a LER scope (and rings!).
Soon, we will be doing a combo of using Ballistic Reticles and knob twisting depending on the ranges we are shooting at. It is an ongoing education process to be sure. Combine that with a mini-weather station (Kestral 3500) and Exbal on Palm and you can determine your POI just about anywhere.
I'm heading to Steve's place (Lord willing & weather permitting) a week from today.
We will have almost 4 days of dog shooting

Hoooahhh-- Aren't those antelope just plain fun to hunt. Sounds like u did it up just right...and great picturesque country to do it in. U know u oughta write it up, and send it in to Small Caliber News, or maybe some publication that'll pay u for it-- if u have any writing skill at all. You'd be surprised the opportunity there is for that kinda stuff--- Good photo, and unusual topic-- ballistic plex handgun antelope. Don't read about that stuff too often. Congrats again.

That little white sticker on top of your scope says it all-- how many guys looked at that and asked u what it was for?? By the way-- is that the knee pads i think i see in the photo-- Did u have to crawl any???

WOW. Lots of 'lopes out there and nice shooting. We hunted Elk on Battlemound last year and stayed in Encampment as the pass was closed. We really wanted to visit the hot spings, but didn't want to drive all the way around. I took my T/C in 444 Marlin, but Elk were out of the timber and shots were to long. Saw lots of 'lopes over by Baggs.

Vmthtr, it is nice country. I had my goat processed in Encampment. The guy that runs the place is originally from Oklahoma. They had a lot of Elk coming it from south of Encampment to be processed while there. I camped at Saratoga Lake and hunted west of Encampment. I'm going to see what it will cost to put in for a draw Elk hunt and antelope next year.
I bet that 444 would take them down. My buddy uses a 444 to shoot hogs on his place. They sure make a whop when they hit. Just about like my 45-70.
The hot springs was wonderful even though I did leave my swim suit there. We went in one night and it was about 35 outside and the water was 101 degrees. Took a while but I finally got in and it was relaxing.
Do you live in WY?

Mike
