If you do a little searching here, you will find quite a few older threads on this topic. Been doing the 460's for about 15 years, but honestly think that the 45 Super is a better combination, for me. The only thing the 460 brings to the table over the 460 is slightly longer brass to keep the loads out of an unmodified gun, and a slightly larger throat (ahead of the chamber) to allow a little more flexibility with heavier bullets (>230).
If you are stuck with factory ammo, then there are probably a few more sources for Rowland ammo, over the Super. In the 1911, you can buy the Clark 460 Kit, or you can buy an exactly configured 45 ACP barrel (threaded and comped) which you can run supers. About the same cost, and both require the same gun mods, if pushing the super.
My conversions (Rowland and Supers in 1911 and a 625 Revolver) have not seen much real hunting time, as for big game I chase elk and mulies, but it has been carried some while hunting. The 1911 sure totes around a bit easier than a large revolver.
