When I was a young rooster & could go all day on snow shoes after Cottontails or Mountain Lions this is how I did it. The gun is an OM Ruger 357 maggie, using the Keith bullet with 5 grs of Unique in 38 special cases. Took a lot of rabbits & covered lots of miles. This photo was in the mid 70's while I was checking my trap line.

Looks like that was fun. A lot of exercise, maybe, but fun.

Having grown up in Alabama and always living in the southeast I have never had your experience but it sounds like a lot of fun.

From the photos you can sure tell a difference in the holes size on those bunnies. That 32 maggie makes a difference.

I see you mention the mountain lions again,,,, If you have not posted your photos of your mountain lion, you should. That was another job well done.

That's good stuff, Dick!
I love reading about you past adventures...from rabbits to bear; keep 'em coming.

Snowshoing is something I have never done, even having spent most of my life in MN. I think I missed out. Thanks for sharing, Dick.

Rod, too.

Russ, ya know I've started writing some things down the last couple of years but its hard to remember the details of dates, distances, locations, etc. If you do something like that you want it to be accurate because you're putting your reputation out there for everyone to judge. Getting it right is important.

sixshot, you are right but the details are not as important as the heart of the story, the heart of your hunt. Better to be a little inaccurate on the minor details than to never put it in writing for everyone to enjoy. It would be something your family would treasure later.

I have been trying to put my hunts in a journal for my son and daughter to have later. It is a lot of work and some of the details are fuzzy in my mind after 54 hunting seasons but it is well worth the time and effort to do.

I encourage you to do.

Dick,I know what ya mean about details being 'fuzzy'. I've never kept a journal, nor took many photos so my grandkids just have to take Pops word for it.

Russ, I one I do have is thousands of photo's from my early days of handgunning up to now & you've seen many of them but quite a few aren't dated so I'll be guessing on some & accurate on others. Many of my hunts over the years, both archery & handgun hunts were alone so sometimes photo's weren't taken until better camera's came along. I usually refuse to tell a hunting story without photo's to back it up.
