Greetings! Are you looking for a single shot, bolt action, revolver, or semi-auto? There are currently produced pistols in all these categories.

Though AMT used to make one, in a semi auto [also available in 17hmr] there is currently the Accelerator, which may be read about here:

Excel Arms

S&W, Taurus, and Ruger make or have made revolvers in this chambering, in single shots there is the TC Contender, and if you go custom you can get it in the Encore, and also Anchutz and Savage make bolt action pistols in this chambering.

What sort of shooting are you wanting to do?

Also there is the well loved and highly recommended concept of having at least two or more different types of handgun in a given cartridge

I am wanting it for predator hunting. In Tennessee, during bow season we are only allowed to use a rimfire. I just want something that will be effective up to 50 yards. Am I asking to much from this caliber?

If you want it for carry while bow hunting then the larger single shots and bolt guns will be cumbersome to carry with the bow.

I would suggest the Ruger Single Six convertable. You would have the option of shooting 22 LR or 22 Mag. Accuracy is decent and the gun would pack or carry light. They have a 5 1/2" in SS and a 4 5/8" in blued. Here is the link.

Ruger Single Six 5 1/2" SS

Ruger Single Six 4 5/8" Blued

My dad has a 5 1/2 single six. Im just not satisfied with its accuracy, open sights, 50 yards, I am all over a 6" circle. Will I get better accuracy from a 9" in the Ruger.

In my experience with the Rugers, no. I would seriously consider the Accelerator. At $415.00 as a basic price of what they go for, you get a package that performs much like a Ruger 10/22mag but in a handgun. Not too bad IMHO

You could also do a T/C Contender with pistol grip and 10" barrel rechambered to 22mag by Mike Bellm. Pick up the 22lr 10" barrel on the cheap from Ed's contenders for 125-150, then send to Mike for an $80.00 rechamger job. You get match grade accuracy from these 22mag rechambers, and you still have a pistol that packs like a revolver with an 8" barrel.

Savage makes a bolt action version of the Striker in 22 WMR. Mine is scoped and accurate enough to consistantly hit 4" spinner at 100 yrds. But it's got a 10" barrel and a stock much like the XPR (though considerably lighter) so is a bit larger than most revolvers or pistols. I put studs on it and sling mine for carry, therefore, a Harris bipod fits on it too.
Don't overlook the Taurus 92 in stainless in their mag version. A good buy at less than $300. If weight isn't a major issue the Stiker will give you the most range. Most other open sighted 22 mags will be pretty much limited to 50 yrds..just to hit a coyote, much less kill it.

Aye, the black base you see on top of the barrel has weaver cross slots and will accept any weaver style cross slot rings.
