IS anyone using these in a 44 revolver? Hows the performance on deer?

Very accurate in 4" S&W 629. No deer yet but confident in the round.

I have a Ruger Super Redhawk 44 magnum in 7.5". I love this thing!!!!! I use two load for it and they are hornady 240 grain xtp-hp and the 300 xtp-hp reloads. All I can say is "Out standing performance on game".

Hornady XTP seem to work well under almost any circumstances. I have used them a lot on deer sized game with excellent results. [sorry, looking back at the OP you were talking FTX]

I actually posted this because a buddy of mine didn't think these could be shot out of a revolver. A question I have, is the flex tip really beneficial at typical handgun ranges? On paper, it doesn't look like it.

I have never taken game with the FTX bullets, but I tried them out in my Ruger SBHH, and my Alaskan. Neither one likes the FTX as much as the XTP. My SBHH with 240xtp groups very well, and with 300xtp it groups amazingly well, but with the FTX it groups about like a shotgun. (All factory hornady offerings) Handloads may get you dialed in better, but after comparing them in factory offerings, I simply gave up on the FTX . They function just fine in a revolver, but weren't very accurate in mine. I don't have a chrono, so I can't give any info on velocity of the factory loading.

As per Hornady, do not forget to trim your brass to 1.255".
