Here I am trying to reload some more test rounds for my PC 460 and my scale decides to start acting up. Normally when I set an object on the pad, the display increases to the weight in less than a second. Now, though, it comes close to the actual weight but keeps going up by about a tenth of a gram per second and won't stop. I tried cleaning out under the pad and replacing the batteries, but neither fixed it.

Guess I need to make a trip to the local outdoor store in the morning. Anyone else had an electronic scale go out like this?

Some of the older models were apparently affected by flourescent bulb lighting.

TN--l just love my digital reloading scale...lt reads faster than my old beam scale.. Esp when l weigh target loads. Each round is weighed before going into the ammo box. Just another check, but old men can make a mistake. A double charge is no fun...My digital scale weighs ten times faster..l still use my RCBS 505 to double check the digital every few rounds..

bottom line.. get a beam scale to backup our digital

Yeah, I need to get a beam scale. Unfortunately my local store didn't have any, so I just got a digital model like my old one.

My digital scale started getting REALLY goofy when the batteries were getting low. My next one will take power from a wall outlet.

Just another affirmation for my distrust of them. I'll take a good powder measure and a beam scale over a digital all day and every day.

To be fair, it worked flawlessly for almost four years. I'm wondering if it broke because of something I did.

Chance, I've got a RCBS digital Rangemaster 750 scale that I'll send ya. PM me your address and I'll send it to you. You don't owe me a dime. I have never used it. It was given to me, and it is still in the box, with the gift reciept, from Christmas of 2008. Well, I guess I've used it a couple times to verify some check weights, but that's it. I am a beam guy, mainly because I have a biology and chemistry background in laboratories, and don't trust anything electronic. I got used to beams, and that's all I use now for my reloading.

Funny thing though-- for my falconry, I use electronic scales!! Hard to get a bird to stand completely still on a beam balance, and have it hold its breath at the same time! HA!! Every time they take a breath or exhale, the scale moves! My digital scale isn't near as sensitive, and doesn't have those "ranging" issues.

But, you had an obvious error that was easy to spot on this occasion. What if it were a small error like 1/2 grain of TG with a max load? I just can't bring myself to feel confident in them. I've read numerous posts of guys having to rig up chicken wire surrounds to keep them from fluctuating from flourescent lights or electric current and such. Thanks but nothanks.

I really appreciate the offer, but I already picked up another scale.
