Begun working with my BFR-7.5" 454 over the weekend, ran these 3 bullets/loads into a block of wet newsprint at 50 Yards. While Doc and many others have real world experience in the field, thought this test might be of interest to the board. This BFR is becoming one of my favorites as it is out right fun to shoot.

Buck, Excellent........... The heavier bullets gave more penetration with 16 inches being pretty impressive for jacketed bullets. I`ve worked with Swift and XTP but never Hawk which held its own next to two excellent jacketed bullets. I know that Jimmy "Racksmasher" recently purchased the same BFR as yours and uses the 240gr XTP mag quite often. I`am sure he will also be interested in your findings. Keep up the good work as all the sincere handgun hunters will benefit from what your learn. James.....................

PS- with 16" of penetration in wet newsprint, I`am sure there`s not many critters that will stand up to those loads when placed in the right spot here in the US....

I love the 265 Swift. Does a real number on deer. Mistakenly shot a turkey with it once. Completely gutted it. Never had to use a knife.
A sleeper bullet that's lightweight and penetrates like crazy is a 265 gr. FP by Alaska Bullet Works of Kodiak. I would not be afraid to take any of the big US game with it and most Africa stuff. It looks like the FA FP, but is tougher and penetrates more.
I've had terrible luck with Horn. XTPs in my .454s. Have recovered many from deer. That's not a lot of penetration in my thoughts.
