Hi folks,

What is the general opinion of the Lee mould 475 caliber, 400 gr bullet as a hunting bullet? It has an LBT-esque meplat. I'll primarily use them in my 480 Ruger for bigger game (deer to elk).

Thanks.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Yes. I've shot alot of Beartooth 475 cal 420 grain but am looking for a cheaper alternative, especially something to shoot alot.

Looks like it should do the job nicely. How hard would you be casting them?

At the moment I'm looking to buy some to try before committing to buying a mould and equipment. The ones I'm looking at are listed as #2 alloy. If they shoot in my gun and make a good hunting bullet, I'll likely just buy the mould.

The lube grooves in that bullet seem kinda narrow and shallow. I wonder if you powder coated instead if it would solve any potential lube issues.

I would guess you could run a pretty soft alloy as well if you were to PC the bullet.
