If you will post the type of gun and loads that you are using, including all components, it will be a great help in answering your questions. The following is the best that I can do under the circumstances.
A few years ago Speer published a "Supplemental Loading Sheet" for the Casull. It may still be available on the Speer website. In discussing the subject of "case extraction issues", Speer observed that WW cases were much harder than typical handgun cases, including Starline, and commented that "Winchester cases needed 5,000 more psi pressure to deflect the same amount as Starline cases, which showed a hardness consistent with most handgun cases." Speer advised to "use new cases for maximum loads, and then relegate them to use with lighter loads". Speer also advised that "if you use Starline brass and experience hard extraction in double action revolvers, reduce the maximum loads at least one grain, and test again."
At the time that data sheet was published, WW and Starline were the only two brands of Casull cases available. We now have Speer and Hornady that I know of, possibly others. Cor-Bon uses Starline in the factory ammo that I have. I have had the sticky extraction issue in my Ruger SRH .454 revolvers with Hornady factory ammo, and with some of my own loadings. Following the Speer advice helped. You might also try a different powder. Ramshot Enforcer generates a little less pressure than some of the others.
There were also some articles published shortly after the SRH 454 was introduced that attributed the sticky extraction problem to the "Carpenter steel", used in in the Super Redhawk. I am not a metallurgist so I cannot comment on that theory.

I am not a metallurgist so I cannot comment on that theory. The OP has a .454 SBH. I too would like to know what he is using for loads. With a variety of factory loads, my .454 SBH has never exhibited sticky extraction. They were wrong to attribute the sticky extraction to the material. 465 Carpenter is actually tougher than 416 and 17-4PH, both stainless steels commonly used in revolvers. The sticky extraction had more to do with roughly machined chambers than anything else. 465 is extremely tough to machine and it is hell on tooling.

Sawfish, thank you for all the info. The firearm is a ruger super blackhawk bisley, 454 casull. The loads with tuff extraction were both 300 gr hndy mag,25.8grs aa#9 and 300gr hndy mag, 28.9grs IMR4227,both loads from hndy 9th edition not near max.I shot 240gr hndy xtp also with 296 no problem with those.

I forgot to say it is new starline brass Thanks According to the published data that I have, your loads fall within those ranges. However, just because a load is published, it does not mean that it is compatible with every firearm chambered in that caliber. There are considerable variations in what works best in each individual firearm. Your gun is a recent production firearm and is likely manufactured to tighter tolerances than some older models. The powder from the lot used by the ballisticians that worked up the manufacturer data may have a slightly different burning rate than what you are using, etc., etc.. One thing for certain that we know is that you are experiencing sticking cases, which could be an indication of excess pressure. I suggest that you reduce your loads by 1 or 2 grains and re-check your loads.

I have not actually seen one of the new SBH Hunters, but it looks like a well made piece that should serve you for many years to come. Good luck.

I took that picture the day it arrived. It's getting a new pair of shoes right now (see sneak peak below). This revolver is hands-down one of the most accurate revolvers I have had the pleasure of laying my hands upon -- bar none. I tested some Federal ammunition a couple of weeks ago and as always it delivered the goods. This is a group I shot at 50 yards.

He did a set of Dall sheep horn grips for my .480 SBH (see photo below) as well. They will be done by early next week at which time I will photograph it.

That's some purdy wood there, Max!
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.
