Deer season will be on top of us soon. I was going through hunting pics and found the picture of my .480s maiden voyage. Two does and neither took a step. Getting ready....

Took my striker in 6.5 x 47 lapua out yesterday, dialed 200 yds 3 shots 3 center hits on 8 inch plate, then dialed 350 and repeated same result. Shooting off the bi-pod.

Great pic reflex264! I've been getting quite a bit of practice in. Finally found a load that I'm happy with for my dad's 3-screw SBH so I'm hoping to take a deer with it this year. It grouped well with other loads but all impacted a little high, beyond sight adjustment. I don't like to think about having to hold low when I'm hunting. I want the bullet to impact right where I'm holding.

This morning I tried some 240 gr Rem SJHPs which impacted right where I was holding. After trying so many other bullet/powder/primer combinations that made me very happy! Grouse season starts in two days so I'll take the Single Six for a walk and see if I can find some birds. General deer/elk doesn't start here until October 22.

Yep seasons will be here before we know it. Had my SRH 44 magnum out a couple weekends ago shooting a few reloads I recently worked up.

It can't get here soon enough. Oh well, at least I've got squirrel season to hold me over till then.

Our bow season for deer opens a week from this Saturday. I have been very busy putting up stands, planting food plots and checking cameras. I am looking forward to bow season but can not wait to get in the woods with my pistons.

I hope everyone has a great season.

My California antelope hunt starts this weekend. I have the 14" contender in 30-30AI stoked with 125gr. Nosler BT just waiting for a chance.
