Has anyone tried the Polycase ammo, which is also distributed by Ruger as their ARX line? I originally thought it was just marketed as "Personal Defense" ammo. But, they also have a hunting round. Not sure if there is really any difference, other than the caliber.

Those look interesting. I wonder how well it would work in practice?

Cabela's is a dealer for the Ruger ARX ammo. I think I'm going to run over to Waco Saturday and see if they have some of the .45 ACP in stock. I emailed Polycase yesterday to find out if the .45 Long Colt in the Inceptor Preferred Hunting line would be OK to fire in a Vaquero. They advertise it as being designed for Lever Action Rifles.

They advertise a 56 grain bullet at 1350 fps / 640 ft. lbs from a rifle barrel.

Say again? That's gotta be a type-o

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Possibly. But that's what's on the website. Click on the link in the first post. The Ruger ARX for the .45 ACP only has a 118 Grain bullet. Sounds whacky

Versions Available

.45 COLT ARX? UM1?

?25 Cartridges
?56 gr ARX?
?1350 fps / 640 ft. lbs.

That's one reason my curiosity has peaked.

A 56 grain bullet at 1350 fps won't yield 640 ft lbs energy. More like 200 - 250. A 156 grain bullet would get you 640ish. Even at that it is a pretty anemic load from a rifle, cowboy level. I suppose they want to keep it shootable in older SA guns and imports.

Sounds much more reasonable.
