What I mean is a hunting handgun with good power, good balance with or without an optic, good accuracy, just right weight etc. What are your thoughts on the hunting handgun that is near perfect in every facet?

I agree. But, there was no Ruger Bisley in 480 when I bought my 45 Colt version and I am quite happy with what I have. I had a SRH in 480 but when it came time to grab a gun I always reached for the Bisley due to it's size and handling. A Bisley in 480 is on my bucket list.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Yes sir, a good 5.5" Ruger 'Bisley' in .45 Colt....
It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

This little fellow will fit the bill.... FA M97 45 colt. Very easy on the belt, handles extremely well, more accurate that most shooters, and it's capable of the Ruger only loads. Packs quiet a big punch in a little package.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Just out of curiosity why the .480 over the .454 which gives you the option to use .45 colt as well?

Doesn't kick like the .454 loaded to spec (65,000 psi vs 48,000 for the .480), and it makes bigger holes than the various .45s. There is not much not to like about the .480 Ruger.

That is one cartridge I have never used. Same. It's one I'd like to try at some point, though.

Certainly not!
For if it did indeed exist.......all reason for continuing the search and subsequent purchases and "test evaluations" would be without meaning.
So, I will continue my search.........one gun........at a time.

It has to start with a 4 and end with a 1 or above. Preferably a .45 or .480 4 5/8th to 6 1/2 in. The .45 gets the nod most days.

I have to agree with some of the others here. I think part of the fun of handgun hunting is experimenting with new ideas to see how well they work.

There are Goldilocks guns, but as you can see from the responses they are different for everyone. It would be a boring world if we all agreed on the same thing. We can give you insights and steer you away from pitfalls but. It is a journey of discovery YOU have to make for yourself,we can only nudge you down the proper paths.Enjoy !!!!!!!

Picked up a 6.5" SRH 44 Mag, it's pretty cool. Great balance and very accurate and to me, not too heavy. Even comes with scope rings
