Congratulations! That's quite an animal for a first handgun kill! Packing a moose out is a lot of work. I've only been in on one packing out through boggy swampy terrain a good part of the way and it was miserable.

I got this handgun hunting bug 4 or 6 years ago or maybe longer. I can close a couple times but never connected. In the meantime I'm reading hunt stories and seeing the game you guys around here are getting and it just kept spurring me on.
So, any of you "newbie like me" handgun hunters out there that have not connected yet, KEEP AT IT!! It's worth it when it all comes together.
Thanks Handgun Hunt Forumers!

Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Great work Snyd!
Way to stay on the mission - what's next on the handgun list?

Great work Snyd!
Way to stay on the mission - what's next on the handgun list? Black Bear or Griz over bait in the spring but I have a buddy that wants a griz bad. I've got one on the wall but want a nice blackie. Then I'll probably try again for Dall Sheep next August. Tried one year with the 45 Colt BisHunter but couldn't close the gap. I ended up letting my partner shoot the ram with his 270 at 270yds.

Something in 6.5 Creedmore,6.5/284 ,6.5 Sweede or mabe a .308 ,30-06 .Then next time your buddy can watch you shoot the RAM. Congratulations on the Moose

Naw.... I want to get one with a revolver inside a 100yds. Not a short barreled rifle. I've got a Kimber MT 325 wsm for long shots and I've shot a few with it. Thanks for thinkin of me though!
