Hello everyone I'm new to the site but not to handgun hunting.I've been shooting the short gun for about 15 years and hunting with it just as long mostly small game but with a few deer thrown in which is as big as it gets here. Seems like there is an abundance of knowledge and experience here. I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully ill have a few pics for your viewing pleasure early tomorrow. I'm gonna take me the 357 tender And the good old 1911 out after I put my daughter on the bus and try to bash a few bushies. One of the benefits of second shift is the morning hunt :-) hopefully ill have some luck and decent pics for yall in the morning. I plan on being on here pretty regularly so I'm sure well get to know eachother. Have grays and fox squrriels back yonder so lets see what decides to scurry my way. Nice to meet you and happy bash'n.

Welcome to HHM! I think you'll fit right in.
There aren't many types of hunting that compare to handgunning tree rats. It's a great way to both start and close out a season.

Welcome from the Missouri Ozarks. We have Reds and Greys here also. I have 4 tube feeders in a valley across from the house. I was putting between 150 and 200 pounds of corn in them in January, February and March helping the wildlife out. My brother had a camera out. We were feeding more bushy tails than deer and turkeys. I believe we had something like 18 on the camera at one time. I have thought about setting up in the ladder stand with the Super 14 and slaying a few, but I never have.

Welcome to the site! Nothing like handgunning skirls! Would love to hear more about your 357 set up for skirls. I've been tossing around the idea of a center fire for skirl hunt'n. 22lr is scarce in these parts. I haven't seen any in walmarts in over five years and what's in sporting goods stores cost a kidney.

Hello BushytailBasher!....I enjoy busting bunnies and squirrels with my TC too!....I use either .22 lr barrel or .38 special or .357 mag. handloads that are like .38 special or less in velocity....I have also been getting practice with my "new to me" FA 83 with the .45LC cylinder in it shoot'n cowboy loads....now that is fun!....I still have not got a deer with it yet...maybe this year?....I too need to get up to speed and finally post a pic or two of my hunts.......

Welcome.
I really miss squirrel hunting. It's been over 20 years since I last went. That's a shame.

So the smaller one on the left was about 65 paces rested off a small tree as I was walking . Shot placement want to awful bad for the range about 2 inches low at that range. The other was 35 paces or so to base of the tree lots of leaves in the and I hit a bit far back and broke bothlegs and bloodied one up pretty bad hoping the brine soak will save it. Right after hitting the smaller one a big young fox squirrel jumped up on a tree base I underestimated the range and shot under about 85 paces. That's roughly 5 inches lows I wasnt surprised I missed when I it still not bad if I say so . Unfortunately couldn't get in range for the 1911 but I've killed lots of the little boogers with it. Not a bad morning over all. And I would like to thank yall for the grand welcome . till next time....
