I killed a small deer today with my Glock 40 MOS 10mm. She was 40 yards from my stand angled away from me. I was pretty nervous as this was the first time I had attempted to take a deer with a handgun and didn't pay enough attention to the angle, I think. I shot her in the right side, bullet impact at the back of the rib cage, the bullet traveled through her chest and exited the rib cage under the left front shoulder. She did a mule kick and when she took off I fired at her again, this time striking her in the back taking out about a 2" section of the backbone. She went maybe 10 yards from the first shot. Recovered the bullet under the shoulder, the other was a clean pass through. The ammo was HPR brand 180gr XTP, the box says its doing 1270 but everything Ive read says its slower than that.
What does everyone else shoot in the 10mm? Im betting set up to load for it.

BKS,
Welcome to HHM. I shoot an 180 gr bullet, cast wfn, jhp, or jsp with Accurate #9, 13.7 gr, with a WLP primer. Use that in my 10mm revolvers and semi-autos. Have had good luck on deer and antelope. Generally, 1 shot kills provided I do my part. Longest shot approx. 150 yds. on a doe antelope.

Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Try a few Sierra 165 gr. JHCs. More velocity, more damage, flatter trajectory. I tested your bullet and many others in the past. The Sierra seems to do a little better in all aspects. Based on about 25 kills with all bullets.

i did a bunch with the 10 when I use to make 1911 in the shops from caspian frames and later on from scratch from bar stock....
the 165 sierra was great and prob the best bullet
they have a new line with a crimp ring low on the base to stop over expansion....that one may be good for close shots where they may open too quick...but these are new this year and I haven't killed anything with them yet....I don't trust gel for data...only living meat and bone
