I have longed for Freedom Arms to produce a 50 cal cartridge for the model 83. I was on thier website tonight and there it was at the bottom of the page, a "press release" so to speak, of the 500 Wyoming Express.

It's a belted case with a .500" bullet. I know, no big deal, we have the 500 S&W.

Well, this one isn't so huge physically, and it comes within
100 fps of the 500 S&W. More packable than the Smith and it's a Freedom Arms. I'm severely addicted to these. I only shoot mine on special occasions. I consider these the finest revolvers ever built. I don't think they give up anything to the Custom Conversions by Bowen, Linebaugh, Crow, etc other than "artistry". Anybody that owns one of these knows what I'm talking about.

I'll be calling tomorrow to see how long the wait is on one of these. It took 7 months to get my 475 when they first came out. Mabey X-mas will come twice next year.

Complete details on this hangun/cartridge are on the website if your a FA fan. Look on the bottom of the home page.

This is truly exciting. I'm wondering what anyone found out who might have talked directly to Freedom Arms. I heard second hand yesterday that someone called Freedom Arms and was told that these are available right now. This seems hard to believe. Freedom Arms goes out of their way to tell people that this 500 is a bear to shoot and that working up to full loads should be done with caution. This tells me that this critter must be really harsh. I have had 4 different 500 Smiths and I love them. I have currently settled on a 6.5" Performance Center model with an unfluted cylinder. I think that I have what I want now. It is pretty easy to carry and not unpleasant to shoot. I would love to have the Freedom Arms Wyoming Express but I am not sure that it would be worth the punishment.

I talked to a person named Corey at FA. Get this, if it's not in-stock it would take 4-6 weeks to complete one. Amazing. BTW price on a 7.5" Premier Grade with express sights and Black Micarta Grips is $2156 Retail.

I think the FA are worth every penny you spend. But that price is a little high for my budget right now. If somebody does get one I would appreciate it if you send me a cartridge for my collection.

Wow, A 500 FA. How cool will that be. May have to rethink the 44 mag FA.
