Hey Guys,

I wanted to share some photos of a gun that I received today. I've been waiting on this one for awhile now! It is a Jeff Quinn 44 Special conversion from Clements Custom guns. The base gun was a 50th anniversary Ruger .357 magnum. It has a 5 1/2" barrel with a vertical white lined front sight, color case-hardening by Turnbull, and cocobolo stocks.

Mr. Clements did an outstanding job, I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. I hope to be able to shoot it soon.

David did a beautiful job on that one. Congratulation Darrell.
Any specific plans on how you will bloody this one?

Thanks guys!

Charles, I didn't necessarily order this one for a hunting gun. I mainly plan to shoot steel targets with it...but I would love to tackle a N. GA deer or hog with it!

I've got 500 pieces of brass and 500 245 grain SWC's on hand...can't wait to shoot it!

Very nice, DH! I've got an OM 357 that I plan to send to David for that same package; with maybe a few extras. That should work well for them N George whitetails.

Absolutely beautiful!

If it were supposed to be easy, they'd have sent my little sister to do it.

Wow. I missed this one. I am a .44 Special nut. Take it hunting. I don't even know how many deer I have killed with the special and a couple of hogs found it quite offensive. That thing is gorgeous.

I've had the opportunity to put a couple hundred rounds through the gun now. It is a lot of fun to shoot!

I am not a very good iron sight shooter and I have discovered that I need to shoot three shot groups.

I can't tell you how many good looking groups I have messed up with a lone flyer from shots 4-6:

I shot these groups at 25 yards while seated, resting the gun on my knees. I've settled on a load of 7 grains of Unique under a Montana Bullet Works 245 gr. SWC cast from an RCBS mold for now. It seems to be a consistent performer.

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate your comments!

Great revolver! I too have a tendency to throw a flyer in a good group. One thing that seems to be helping me is aim small and keep the exact point of aim. Do not look at the group. Try a target that the group is not visible if you can. Just my $.02 cents.

DH,
It seems those "flyers" are due to an issue with that revolver. It must have a bent barrel, timing issue, or something. I'll be glad to take it off your hands - at a discounted/defective price, of course.

Rib'n aside, that's some fine shoot'n! I see many NGA critters laying to rest in the future. Congrats on a beautiful SHOOTER!

Ha! KRal, you are a true friend, thanks for looking out for a brother!

I think that I'm through shooting groups with this gun for now. I loaded up another 100 rounds with Unique last night to shoot offhand at my steel target. This will allow me to work on two areas that I need to improve upon; iron sight shooting and offhand shooting. Hopefully I will get a high percentage of satisfying "pings"!

DH has the coolest toys...beautiful revolver and great shooting!

Darrell - speaking of looking out for a brother, KRal is coming off injured-reserve, and I would hate for him to reinjure himself taking over shooting duties on your defective pistol. I'm here to help. 😜

Darrell does have the coolest toys. The color case hardening really is something to see.
