Closed the hunting season with a bang yesterday as I broke the TC Encore 45/410 out and took a few tree rats out of circulation. I normally still-hunt squirrels but a friend's nephew brought his dogs, so I tossed the shooting sticks and free-handed and did quite well. This time of year their hides are pretty thick so the initial hit with the 410 usually wasn't lethal but did knock them out of the tree and ultimately into the vest. Now it's on to getting the .460 scoped and sighted in for Illinois whitetails in November!
