I know there are several North Carolina handgun hunters in this group but I thought there may be some new members. I hunt with my Redhawk 44 mag, Optima V2 muzzle loading pistol,223 contender and my new 30-30 contender.

I travel down to NC to deer hunt. I use a Ruger Bisley SH in .44 Rem. Mag. and an Encore with a 7mm-08 15" barrel. Love NC. I hunt NH as well, usually after I get back. NH has a 1 deer/season limit with a 5 week season. So the trip to NC really expands my opportunity.

In Bertie County with an outfitter. Leased land. It's my one splurge! I do take a rifle down, but it's a standby. I've had pretty good luck with both handguns. Where do you hunt?

Sorry to be so slow to respond. My son and I are members of the Back Woods Hunt Club. We also hunt private property in Caldwell, Wilkes, Yadkin and Iredell counties.

No problem REDHAWK1954. So you hunt the Western and Triad sections. I assume they are wooded and hilly (if not mountainous)areas. Do you still-hunt or use a tree stand/blind? I still-hunt in NH, since the area is densely wooded and shots are usually fairly close (50 yards or so); but hunt from a blind in NC.
