James,
I've had a 10" Contender barrel, a 6" barrel S&W Mdl. 16, and a 7-1/2" FA Mdl. 97. The FA and 16 could actually be loaded heavier than the Contender, which had a .308" bore.
The round is mild and quite accurate. I usually ran an 85 gr. XTP @ 1200 fps using H4227. It worked nicely as a sidearm for groundhogs.
If you've kept all your old copies of the Sixgunner, you'll find an article "32 Mag. Orchard Protector" from 2003 or 2004.

Thanks Ken...... I`am waiting for delivery of a blue Dan Wesson in 32 H&R with a 6" barrel.... When I was in Idaho with Dick Thompson and friends, I discovered almost everyone there had a 32 of some sort. Later, while shooting up the local ground squirrel population using my 45 Colt Mtn. Gun I ran empty because I could only carry two pocket`s full of the large cartridges while the guys using their 32`s had double the amount of ammo... For that type of hunting I found the 32`s to be excellent. Plus its re-loadable...Dick gave me a long list of the animals he`s taken with his 32`s.... Besides, its the one caliber I never owned.... Thank`s again for your info.....

James, I've got a Ruger Single-Seven and shot 32 H&R Mag. more than 327 Fed. Thanks to Dick, I'm hooked on how much fun this round can provide. Dick is a wealth of information on all things 32. The 85 & 100 gr. Hornady XTP bullets shoot fine but Dick's powder coated cast bullets are great! I'm sure you will enjoy yours.

Mark-- what did ya like about the 32 over the 327? The 327 has my interest, and I'm looking to have one made late this year, or early next. Just curious. Thanks.

Raptortrapper, No big thing -- I guess it's like shooting 38 Specials in a .357 Mag. revolver. Just a real mild round that is so pleasant to shoot -- and not hungry for large amounts of powder. Nothing major by any means -- as I shoot both, but the 32 is fun with a light load and cast bullets. I'm sure you will enjoy yours.

Markie, While visiting Dick I took this photo of his powder coated, cast 32 Mags. We both agreed that he would be well armed with his ammo and 32 Ruger if he ever got turned around in the Idaho woods......His 8 shot Ruger 32 with as smooth a trigger as you`ll see....

What's the idea with the powder coating? Eliminate fouling?

Those are sweet.

Been looking at the 32 lineup myself.

I'll definitely be having one of those someday. I wish someday would hurry up and get here already!

James,
Can you post for all to see like you did with Elmer's 1959 article ?
