I would have to say 30/30 Win. My first big game gun was a Winchester 94 that I still have and dont plan on parting with until a grandson gets it. I suspect the next two barrels I order for the Encore will we a 45/410 and a 30/30.

22 and 45/70 are by far my two favorites. The 308 would be next. It's only a year younger than me.

No real favorites, but the .30-30, .45-70, and .22LR are in the running, with nothing else close.

I'm a fan of the 7x57 Mauser. I always thought it would be a great chambering in a specility pistol.

Ditto for the 7x57
It is a excellent choice in the Encore, mine is the Ackley Imp version SSK 15" with arrester brake. I've taken several deer with it.

I bought a Ruger M77 RSM in .416 Rigby a couple of years ago for a planned trip to Africa that never panned out. My son is carrying it today out in the bush up here in the northern part of Alaska because of the big boogers up there, and I have to admit that grand ol' round has become a great favorite of mine as well. It's right up there with the 45-70 for me these days. It was developed in 1911, so that's pretty "old timey".

My wife calls me "old timey", "old fashioned" and sometimes just plain "old". And that's only when I'm not an "old dinosaur", a "broken down old cowboy" or a "relic from a by-gone era".

Whew! I sure am glad she loves me!

By old timey wouldn't it need to stay with a true to its original loading to really be old timey otherwise its a old cartridge modernized.

In original loading:
.416 Rigby
7x57
30-06
.303 Savage

With modern loads
45/70
.416 Rigby
7x57
30-06

Lots. The .22LR, .32-20, .38WCF, .44Colt, .44Spl, .45Colt. Plus quite a few rifle cartridges like the .30WCF, .38-55, .405WCF, .416Rigby and I might finagle a .500NE in the next year or two.
