This question only relates to the 357 Mag or MAX (List your MV) and only for the Swift A-Frame bullets.
For mule deer and on up in size which of the two do you prefer more and why please: 158 Grain or the 180 grain?
Really looking for those who have used both, but if you have used one of the weights I would be interested in your thoughts on it's actual performance on game.
Not interested in water jugs or other media.

Hoping you get some qualified replies here Ernie because I've heard so many good things about the Swift A Frame bullets. I'm guessing Max has used them on something & will chime in, he's a big A Frame fan.
From my limited experience with the 357 Maximum in a 10 1/2 Ruger & 180 gr. Cast (4 Mule deer) I would not hesitate to use that 180 gr. A Frame bullet on deer or elk at reasonable distances. Distance always comes down to the shooter, not the load, at least in my experience.

Dick I'm a recent convert, Dick. I have only used them a couple of times over the years, but saw how they performed on some big bovines recently and was impressed. That said, I have never used them in .357, but can't imagine them not working well.

Ernie, I`ve only taken one mulie using a 210gr A-frame from my FA`s 41mag The shot was a broadside right at 100yds with complete penetration I also loaded the 158gr A-frame for my .357 S&W m-27 with 8 3/8" barrel for whitetail and smaller boar but have not had the chance to use the handload. However, I would use the 180gr A-frame in a 357 for the extra weight if hunting mule deer...good hunting

I am all ears also on the A-frame's in 357 magnum. I do plan on running some head to head tests this summer on some wet newsprint between the xtp's and A-frames. my wife hunts with a GP and my oldest will be hunting this year starting out with my Blackhawk in 357...

Taken several whitetail with 158 and 180gr.xtps in the 357 mag, but no aframes. Would be very interested to see how they do.

I have taken a few whitetails with the 180 A-Frame. Gun was a 8" Colt Python and the deer were taken in the 65 to 105 yard range from an elevated stand. I didn't chrono the loads but a good guess would be they were in the 1200 to 1225 fps range. All shots were complete pass throughs. The bucks were an average of 160 lbs.
I haven't used the 158's.

Imho from what ive seen on deer the 158's are my go to. I would use the 180's on elk but the 158's have no
Problems with penetration on deer and the faster velocity generally leaves a larger wound channel if ya resline em.

158 aframes. Pushed hard outta guns thatll take it
Like the rugers or even better the FA. I'd just go heavier outta smiths or other "not as strong" guns.
