The standard "Tamer" grips on the SRH sure work well in taming down .454 recoil. Generally, given the low round count, recoil isn't such a factor when hunting. But it makes practice uncomfortable, which is why I've been sticking to the Tamer grips.

Unfortunately they really do add to the ugly factor. Also, I find the finger grooves don't suit my hand and forces my fingers into an uncomfortable grip. All of that I can put up with in the absence of a viable alternative.

Recently saw a range of very attractive wood grips on ebay. The grips are made in Thailand. Has anyone tried any of these and how well do feel under recoil? I suspect that being wood they'll be fairly hard on the hand, but I'd appreciate any actual experience.

I have a set. They're not bad but don't quite cut it. Also tried a set of Eagle targets. For me, the old wood insert rubber grips work better than the rest.

I'm trying to talk Rob Rowen or Jack Huntington to do me a set similar to these Ropers for the S&W.
