I shot Chris Rhodes 44 magnum with iron sights, that Ken Kelly worked on today for the first time. Standing, offhand, with no artificial support, I killed that little prairie dog at 125 yards today. It was a quick goal achieved...Some days things go your way.

Those small targets really make you concentrate. Good shooting!

Dang Ernie....That is some shooting skill there. Bet the critter looked like a dot at that distance....You don't have some kind of special secret squirrel eye glasses on do you ??? I don't shot iron sighted handgun off-hand without support very often...But when I do, I sometimes get lucky! Being near-sighted and wearing my glasses, presents problems for me shooting irons. I'm just past mid-50, and my eyes will not focus through the magnification for things up close, like front sights or reading. I take my glasses off for reading and computer work. If I would have shot with safety glasses on, I would have been able to focus on the front sight just fine, but I wouldn't be able to see the pd good enough or at all (he was a little one). If I can see it clearly, dot sight or scope, I can hit it. I don't do that much off-hand practice, but shooting is shooting. Chris's revolver was easy to shoot. No Super Secret Squirrel here...

Good shootin' Ernie. I wouldn't even have been able to see it at that distance with the maked eye.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Fantastic shoot'n, Ernie!
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

That is awesome Ernie!!! We used to say: Sometimes it is better to be Lucky than good. I say you were "Good" on that shot and "Lucky" that there was anything left to photograph.

It would have been great to have you there Dick. The shooting was even more fast and furious than with you on Thursday evening and Friday evening, once I started using my 6x47 XP! The meat reports and acrobatics were enjoyable. I could see most of my shots with Chris' 44 (240 grain lead LSWC), plus Chris was spotting for me.

Solid Ernie!!!
I don't know if I would have come close enough to scare him offhand @ 125!

I don't know if I would have come close enough to scare him offhand @ 125! You never know till you try. I tried, and got quick results. I am not going to assume I could repeat it at that distance (Standing / Off-hand) that quickly though. Now, I want to try further. Why? For the fun of it!
