Our friend Mark Hampton has been busy making memories again! Here is an awesome cinnamon color-phased black bear from a recent hunting trip to Wyoming.

Congrats Mark, please share some details!

Thanks for posting Darrell! Just returned from WY. This is not the biggest bear in WY but I couldn't pass up the color-phase. I've taken black bear in the past and always enjoy hunting them with either dogs or bait. This was a spot & stalk hunt and we were hunting at 7300 foot elevation -- still snow in patches. Took this bear with an across canyon shot at 380 yards with an Encore in 300 Win. Mag. Bear and turkey hunting are great ways to enjoy spring -- while waiting for fall hunting seasons.

Great job Mark & a nice color phase bear! That's a long shot for a single shot handgun, well done! The bear looks to be in great shape with no rub spots on the hide, Congratulations!

cmnash, 300 Win. Mag. + rifle scope + unorthodox shooting position = bloody nose!

Awesome! Love the color! That's a pretty cool looking Encore, too.

What load were you using?

Chance, This particular barrel likes Federal Fusion -- 150 gr. It chronographs over 3000 fps and shoots good -- better than I can hold it.

380 yards? Now that's saying something. Great shot!

Mark, if you don't mind, I'm really interested in the specifics of that barrel, such as the length and taper. If I had to guess, it looks like a full bull barrel about 17" to 18" long, counting the brake.

Chance, You are correct -- full bull, 18 inches with muzzle brake.

I do indeed. Mine is a factory rifle barrel that Wapitirod cut to 15 inches, recrowned, and added a brake.
