So I've been watching my daughter's two dogs since she moved to an appartment in the city and cannot have them there. The elder is smart but his boy not so much. Last evening I let them out about 8PM and the younger seemed alerted to something around the corner of the woodshop. I started to walk closer to him and as I rounded the corner I thought OH S#!T. I called for him to come but of course he went. I ran about as fast as my 57 YO legs can carry me but he beat me by enough time to get a few new wiskers, but it could have been worse. I finally got his attention and got both of them in the house. I then retreived my 45 from the nightstand and went out looking for the little bugger. It may have just been passing through but I couldn't take the chance with the hounds. It had made it up a pine tree a ways so the shot was quartering away, but the 230 XTP found it's mark and down it came. Then back to the house for the "fun", hope that dog learned his lesson as he wasn't too happy as I "plucked" him.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Nothing like a painful life lesson to get the point across. Hope he learned his lesson. Looks like you used enough gun.

some dogs seem to learn that lesson and some just get more pissed and ready to go for second time.

Nice! That's one critter I haven't been able to acquire a notch for. I seen one in Texas once, but it was early in the morning before daylight, so I couldn't see well enough to shoot.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Good job! Bet that was quite the learning experience for the dog.

Great shooting. In NY, they are considered a nuisance animal and you can shoot them day or night, year round, with no bag limit and with any implement. All you need is a small game license to hunt them.
