The trigger pull on my Encore seems to be pounds heavier on the first pull (as opposed to subsequent pulls) in a given shooting session or dry firing with a snapcap. Seems crazy to me, but let the gun sit a few days and there it is .... first pull is really heavy. What in the world is that?

I really wish I had a gauge and could measure this.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like some gummed up oil/grease in the action. Prolly needs a good cleaning.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Thanks KRal,

Its a new frame and I never stripped and cleaned before shooting ... I'll give that a try.

Any other ideas out there?

Since I had the day off and this tropical storm is dropping buckets of water on us here in South Alabama, I decided to take the Encore down and figure this trigger out.

I honestly cant remember the last time I cussed that much fooling with a gun. I made up words that shouldnt be uttered ever again!

However, I know how the thing works now and the problem seems to be rectified after cleaning and wiping things down.

Do you have the factory spring in it?
