Does anyone have any experience with the following revolver?

Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley in 45LC/45acp?

Newly released through Linsey's for Ruger.

They have done several runs of that gun. Very nice rig

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Absolutely love mine.

Though, I have noticed substantial velocity bleed off from the ACP cylinder as compared to equal length semi-auto barreled pistols due to the cylinder gap (I suspect).

So, the ACP cylinder should be viewed as a less expensive training tool and not a serious representation of the ACP's capability.

At 25 yards, about 1" difference with my 300gr WFN-GC loads and about 3.5" difference with my 250gr XTP load.

As compared to a Federal Classic 230gr ACP load.

It's a single action, loaded one at a time. You'd have to remove the base pin and cylinder for a moon clip. Not very practical.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Not the Lipsey's model, but I just picked up a Blackhawk 45 Convertible and shot it today with the 45ACP cylinder.

Shoots a ragged hole at 20 yds, with plain ball ammo. I'm looking at getting some 335gr WLNGC bullets from Grizzley Cartridge for the 45 Colt cylinder soon.

BRASF0311 a bit off topic. how do you like those Hogue rubber grips? i got wooden ones and they are like hanging onto a 2x4

bluecow- They are my preferred grip, even over the Bisley style, which is a great grip. The combination of the rubber texture with palm swells and finger grooves help lock my grip on the gun and prevent it from rolling in my hand. They usually run around $25 so get a set and even if you don't like them, you're not out much and could easily resell them here if you need to. I highly recommend them.

bamabow- I don't know of any rubber grips for a bisley frame. One ugly option that worked for me on my Glock 21 was to take a piece of bicycle tire inner tube and wrap it around the grip. It is easy on and off and provides a great non-slip grip. If you can look past the ugly and focus on the function, it may be just what you need.

Here is a little something to get us back on track to discuss the convertibles.

Very nice Zee, that was the one I was looking for when I bought mine. I think that model should be a continuous factory production, and not just a limited run.

I noted my 45 ACP cylinder has a very tight (like custom) fit to it, while the 45 Colt cylinder has a little end shake and rotational play in it. Not bad, just not as tight as the 45 ACP cylinder.

How does your two cylinders compare?

I'd have to pull it out and compare.

Wait..........that didn't sound right.

Funny, I can see you're lining up the whole end shake thing too.

Here are a couple better pictures of mine with some HSM Bear Loads that I picked up today.

Does anyone have any experience with these loads?

I also just ordered a couple LPA Rear Sights for this and my SRH.

Wow, this guy heard my HSM ammo question, went back in time a couple years, and answered it in a weird time travel kind of way. Crazy.
