I may have the chance to make a trade for a Leupold LCO red dot sight to put on my BFR 45-70. It is actually mounted on it now, and I positively love the view. My question is does anyone know if this optic will stand up to the recoil? It was mounted on my son's AR-15. Any warnings or issues I need to be aware of? I don't want to shake loose a 600.00 optic that was designed for something a little less...vigorous.

If it were supposed to be easy, they'd have sent my little sister to do it.

I'm going to go out today and sight it in. Should be fine, it is a Leupold with lifetime warranty. I have finally gone exclusively hand gun, more-or-less. There is an AR in the house for other purposes, but my last hunting rifle went this week. Went bear hunting a couple of weeks ago, and it was a bust. But I'm already planning a fall hunt, and am taking the BFR. I have the rest of the summer to get the optics workable for me, along with lots of trigger time.

I am sure Leupold will stand behind it. What size dot does it have?

Rod, too.

It has several sized dots, both red and green. I hope they do stand behind it, because it broke. The L-to-R adjustment screw was adjusted all the way to the right, with the bullet holes still 12" too far left. I went to adjust it one more click, and something broke loose inside. (sigh) I think I'll take up hunting with a sharp stick. It's cheaper, and my rate of success will still remain the same.

Usually Leupold only warrants their electronic items for 1 year. I found that out with a rangefinder. They did give me 50% off MSRP for something new though.

Sorry to hear that. Hope Leupold takes care of it.
