Ruger is recalling Mark 4's with serial numbers starting with 401...Safety issue.
You have one, like me, go to the Ruger home page and it will give you the info on getting it back to Ruger for the retrofit for a new safety.

Yep. My box is on the way from Ruger. They only want the grip frame returned, and will give me a free magazine for the inconvenience. I'm also going to buy a taller fiber optic front sight for my Super Redhawk, and have them include it with the return order, (saves me the cost of shipping that way). I still have my Mark III to use while it's gone, so it works out good for me.

Hey guys, been looking hard at the Mark 4's for a couple of months. Do yall have a preference on which model? They have so many to choose from. Do I need to step up to the target or hunter model or is their base model fine? Just want to plink, get some good practice and hammer a few of these pesty chipmunks.

bamabow,
Pick what ever one you like, because you can't go wrong with any of them. I like the 22/45 because it replicates my 1911's. I'd like to see a Mark IV 22/45 Hunter.

l guess l still need to send in my 3screw Single Six from 1967..

After 50 years l still have not shot myself in the foot with it.

Sam Colt said it back in 1873 for his new PEACEMAKER, ''Load five Only''

Sturm Ruger and Company is asking you to return your Mark4 22

pistol... All Ruger Single Action revolvers built prior to 1973

are being recalled for safety reasons also. Some owners aren't

going to because it makes changes to the action that shooters

don't like.. This recall is 40+ years old.

I was trying my hand at humor as poor as it was.....

I know what you mean by the three screw and not sending it back for the "fix".
As they say if isn't broke why fix it.
Like you I have shot my Mark 4 a fair amount and as of this date/time I have not had any issues with it.
I may just leave it as is and call it good.

Wasn't all that poor ;-)

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.
