I just bought a T/C pistol for hunting deer. I chose a 15 inch barrel chambered in 7mm-08. It came with a T/C 2.5 x 7 x 28 scope. I can't find much information on this scope. Is it a good one or should I upgrade? Most of my shots will be less than 100 yards.

If I do buy another scope what would be a fair asking price for this one? Cabela's has them for $259.99. Anybody want to make an offer?

Alot of guys like the TC scopes, I have not used one before I use the Bushnell 2x6 for my TC Encores and My Striker has a Burris 3x12 on it.
Give the TC scope a try before you sell it it might be perfect for what your using it for.

I have three T/C 2.5-7 scopes one is brand new in a box, one is on my 15 inch 209x50 encore this one has the lighted cross hairs, and the 3 rd is sitting on my 10 inch 357 herrett contender barrel. I also have a leupold 2x, weaver 4x, redfield 2-1/2, bushnell 2.5 phantom scope.
I think you will like the T/C scope a lot But if you don't I will be more then happy to trade you the 2.5-7 for my leupold 2x.
If you are going to be hunting with this barrel/scope you should spent the $17 and get a set of Butler creak flip up scope caps this will keep dirt and water snow off the lenses but easy to open up when you get a shot. all my hunting scopes have them and I find them well worth the money.

that scope should serve you very well. i had a 2.5x7 TC some time ago and it's quality was excellent. i liked it much better than the SSK promoted simmons gold medal.

if you were wanting more x's on the top end, a 3x12 burris may be in order.
for more field of view, ricky's 2x leupold, a 2x burris or a 2x7 burris would provide more of that.

you have an excellent scope on it now, imo.

let us know what works for ya in yer 7-08.

The TC scope is a very good scope. I have three of them and a 1.25x4 they used to make.
I would use it until it breaks, (if ever) and then send it in for a new one since they are life time guaranteed.
I shoot mine between 2 & 4x on my 45-70 and if it will stand up that recoil it should be no problem on the barrel you have.
The Burris are a little clearer and that is only if you put them side by side and compair but not enough to go out and buy one since you already have a good scope. The burris is more expensive but since you have the TC I would stick with it.

BillyB,

Just to add a little fuel to this fire....

I've got two of the TC 2 1/2 X 7 scopes. Both on G2 Contender pistols (375JDJ and 30-30AI). I think they may be one of the best buys on the market. Both real clear and pretty much bullet-proof IMO. The lifetime warantee makes them desireable too.

I have that exact combo....except i have a lighted recticle on mine...shoots great, kinda rolls in my hands a bit, but recoil is very managable. I pulled that scope off my 44mag b/c it performed so well for me, i thought it'd be a good 200 yards scope. have not field tested the combo on a hunt yet, but it's coming. I will report back on the braggin board soon (optimism )
