475, I`am no expert on the Outdoor Channel but I believe sponsorship is the main ingredient to making a show successful.
In other words... no money...no show.. Also, they do research on how many handgun hunters there are in the US.... In numbers.. bow hunters have us beat hands down....

I think Gary once said he had tried, but it was just too expensive with too few sponsors. It would be nice to see one (or especially to contribute), but I don't see one happening anytime soon.

That is a simple answer no one will sponsor it. I didn't try to start it but I was contacted by some folks at the outdoor channel who wanted to do a show but even the movers and shakers could not get an anchor sponsor i.e. a gun manufacturer. At the time they were all drooling over AR's, 9mm plastic and 1911's.

You're probably right! Also what James said, we are a small fish in a big barrel compared to bow hunting. It would take some one like Ruger to lead the charge & then get others to jump in & help get it started. Our sport is small & not understood by many. How many times have you told some one that you just took a deer or elk or feral hog with a handgun & they are almost floored by that! Happens all the time.

Sponsorship, showmanship, self derived nicknames, flashy and all things "bro-country" are selling now. Makes me nauseous. Larry Weishuhn replied to my comment on his Facebook post about wanting to see more handgun hunts, he too would like that. Again, it comes down to what sponsors want. My opinion they seem to be running from the evil handheld indiscriminate killing machine. Because balls.

The last two times I've discussed hunting with handguns I've had pleasant and not so realistic responses; "You deer hunt with a handgun?" (in awe and wonderment) and "Well, they make those things just like shooting a rifle so..." I offered the latter a chance to shoot my Encore at a target of his choosing and he declined.

My filter is broken.

Dick, now add the fact of where I live and you see why I`ve always said "being a handgun hunter in NJ is a lonely job"

Ya know, if perhaps we ever got around to presenting a a united front we could make some headway. Hunting is fractured and handgun hunting is the worst of it from the gun side. If ya want a tv show perhaps we could start by supporting those who promote this sport. If you havent written a quick email supporting max and mark hampton's handgun articles or bought their books youre part of the problem, quit crying for a solution.

X2

I'm planning on making a few videos this year. If I get a lot of good footage, I'll make a YouTube channel and post some of the videos.
